For the week of

April 7th-11th:

Welcome back from Spring Break! 

We have a lot coming up over the next couple of months:

MARCH OF DIMES classroom race begins the day we come back from Spring Break!  This is a huge fundraiser that we do at CLE.  Last year, we raised the most money out of all the schools in the county!

For March of Dimes, we will be collecting money as a class.  Look for a flyer to go home the week of the 7th detailing more about our classroom race.

There is a SAC meeting on April 9th

Report Cards go home on April 10th

Honor Roll for 3rd grade will be Monday April 14th at 8:00 am in the MPR

April 17th is Parent Teacher Conference Night from    5-8 pm

There is no school on April 18th

April 22nd is Earth Day

April 23rd, the PTA is putting on a Spring Fever Festival!  It is from 3:05-7:00.  There will be food, activity booths, bounce houses, and the Student vs. Teacher Basketball Game!  Come out and have some fun!

Spirit Day this month is on March 25 and the theme is "Wacky Hair Day"

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be on April 28th beginning at 6:30 pm

Interims will be going home on April 30th

The reading skill:  ALL Skills

Phonics skills: Inflected Endings (-ed, -ing, -er, -est)

Writing: Revising expository writing

Language Arts Focus: Prepositions

This week’s vocabulary words are: environment, ecosystem, population, community, grassland, desert, tundra, wetland

In math: Chapter 27 and 28:  FRACTIONS: relating fractions to decimals (tenths, hundredths); relating fractions to money

In Social Studies: We just finished our unit on ECONOMICS!  Thank you to the parents and students who sent in items to sell in our "store".  It was a lot of fun!  Up next will be a unit on ANCIENT EGYPT!

Science Note: We will beginning our unit on ECOSYSTEMS.  We will be discussing habitats, food chains, populations and communities, and the water cycle.

Classroom Wish List:

  • New and used books to be donated to add to our classroom library (picture books, non-fiction books, chapter books)
  • Reading or Math games
  • CD's that would be useful in the classroom (anything instrumental, beach sounds, relaxing, holiday, etc.)
