Radial Balance

Students used geometric shapes to create a radial balance design.

Winter Value

Students learned to about the element of art of value which refers to the lightness and darkness of a color, and created tins (light value) of the color blue.  Then they learned to overlap triangle shapes and we turned our lesson into a winter landscape.

Navajo War Shields

Students learned about the Navajo Native Americans and the symbols and colors they used to decorate their everyday objects, like the shields they used for protection.

Pickle Pumpkins

Students in Kindergarten explored texture in nature and after they printed Fall leaves on the paper, they created a pumpkin using "pickle" shapes.  They also added leaves around their work by cutting and gluing.

Lines and Shapes

Students were introduced to the art elements of line and shape, and also learned about the art of Abstract artist Joan Miro.

They created an Abstract design using crayons.

After they created the line and shape design, they used primary and secondary colors with a watercolor media.
