What We Are Working On Now:

This week we are reading: What a Sight! & Lost in the Museum

The reading skill:  Compare & Contrast

This week’s vocabulary words include:  Long i words, possessives and common high frequency words.

Please help your child practice spelling these words each night.  We will have a spelling quiz on Thursday.  The students are expected to use these words correctly in their daily writing as well.

In math we are learning about maps and directions.  There will be a test on Wednesday.

In S
ocial Studies we are talking about Spring.

* There are many words in our language that children are not able to sound out.  In our classroom I tell the students "secret stories" about special letter combinations.  Please ask your child to tell you some of the stories.  They are posted on the wall in our classroom so the children may refer to them as they come across words that have a secret story hidden in them.  So far they should know about the sounds, ou & ow, au & aw and the th, sh and wh sound.*
